Net10 wireless was founded in 1996 as one of TracFone Wireless, Inc.’s brands. The company’s mission is to ensure every customer finds a plan and phone that’s perfect for their needs, without locking them into a contract. Customers will also find nationwide coverage when selecting one of the many Net10 plans.
One of the most significant benefits of using Net10 wireless is that there are no overage costs and no extra fees. Every customer who uses a 4G LTE compatible device that includes a 4G LTE SIM has access to 4G LTE speed. You can also get a discounted rate by auto-refilling your plan every month via automatic debit from your credit card.

Selecting the “pay-as-you-go” option means your non-smartphone plan will expire after 30, 60, 90, or 180 days. Net10 plans include a combination of text messages and minutes, with every text message using up one minute. Most plans include carryover benefits when it’s time to renew your plan so you won’t lose unused minutes. With carryover, your unused minutes will be added into the next month in addition to the new month’s allotment. The exception is the 30-day, 1,000-minute plan that doesn’t include carryover.
|Number of minutes/texts||Price||Expiration Window|
|200 minutes||$20 ($15 with Auto-refill)||30 days with carryover|
|300 minutes||$30 (500 minutes and 30 days with Auto-refill)||60 days with carryover|
|600 minutes||$45||60 days with carryover|
|900 minutes||$60||90 days with carryover|
|1500 minutes||$100||180 days with carryover|
|1000 minutes||$25||30 days with no carryover|

Many competitors bring a wide variety of services and plans to consumers, but Net10 wireless stands out for the pricing and hassle-free activation. For example, if you want to keep your old phone and phone number, that’s not an issue as long as your phone is unlocked.
You’ll also find that many competitors require you to pay an entire year up-front to take advantage of discounts. That isn’t the case with Net10 plans since you can choose a monthly plan or the pay-as-you-go option. Let’s compare the most popular Net10 plan to its competitors:
|Wireless Carrier||Phone Plan||Price||Contract||Speeds||Features|
|Net10||8 GB||$40/mo. or $36/mo. with auto-refill||No||First 8 GB high-speed, then 2G||Unlimited talk, text, and data|
|AT&T||PREPAID 8GB||$25/mo. with AT&T prepaid||Save when you prepay for an entire year||After 8G, 128 Kbps for the remainder of the term||Talk, text, and data in Mexico, and Canada|
|Boost Mobile||Unlimited||$25 line/mo. for four lines||No||4G LTE||Stream video at 480p, music at 500 Kbps, and games at 2 Mbps|
|Cricket Wireless||Unlimited & 15GB Mobile Hotspot||$60/mo.||No||4G LTE||Includes Mexico and Canada|
|Mint Mobile||3GB plan – SIM kit||$15/mo.||No||3GB 4G LTE per month||Unlimited Nationwide Talk & Text|

Because Net10 wireless is already a low-cost option for prepaid calling, the company doesn’t offer any family or multi-line plans. However, you will experience savings when listing all of your phone plans under the same account. You can use the $50 plan to enroll each phone into the auto-refill program. That way, you’ll get $5 off the first line, and $10 for each additional line. These savings work for up to four phone lines.
Net10 wireless currently has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Reviewers on ConsumerAffairs report that customer service is responsive and the service reliability is dependable. They also point out that the plans are not overpriced. Users on ConsumerAffairs also love that the phones and plans work as well as major carriers.
The reviews on Yelp, on the other hand, aren’t quite as favorable with reviewers having issues with customer service and data speeds. And while customers generally like the Net10 service plans, they take issue with the fact that they sell refurbished phones.
Net10 plans start at $20 per month for 1 GB 4G LTE data and go up to $65 per month for 10 GB of data and international calling. All Net10 plans include unlimited talk, text, and data within the specific data usage guidelines.
If you’re using an unlocked phone, you can bring your own phone number to Net10 wireless. All you have to do is purchase Net10’s Bring Your Own Phone SIM Kit. This plan allows you to keep your phone number as well as the phone you love using.
On the bottom of each of the Net10 plans, you’ll see a link indicating how many reward points you need to purchase that plan. Enrolling is as simple as visiting the reward page and entering your phone number, email, serial number, or SIM number. Participating in this free program allows you to earn rewards automatically or by answering polls, playing games, and so on. Then, you can redeem those points for free add-ons, service plans, and more.
Net10 is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) currently using AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon networks.
If you’re using an unlocked phone instead of purchasing one from Net10, you’ll need to buy a SIM activation kit. You can keep your existing phone number, experience nationwide coverage, no roaming charges, and the card is compatible with smartphones.
